18 Hanging Planter Ideas

I don't know about you, but I love to talk about home. There's always something happening there. Home is a place of laughter, drama, form, function and rest. It's the backdrop to the story of our lives, the roof over our head, the family hub, the cafĂ© that never closes, a respite of comfort and protection, a creative outlet and the place we kick back in our PJ's, put our feet on the coffee table and live the life.

A place like that is worth talking about. It also deserves a little something special now and then, a few touches to accent its finer points.

Recently I created a hanging house number planter for my front door and made a similar planter for my sister. After I posted about it at Hometalk.com, I was asked to curate a clipboard of other hanging planter projects from their site and share them. What a great idea! After all, hanging planters can infuse fun, color and the joy of most any season into a home with a little imagination, creativity and a few plants and flowers. From the front door to the back yard, there are plenty of places to incorporate blooms and greenery into your home and garden decor.

Check out my clipboard of Hometalk hanging planter ideas above. Clicking the image will take you to my clipboard that showcases those posts with the information on the projects pictured!

Hometalk.com is a great place for project information. You can ask questions, get answers and find inspiration and creative ideas for your home.

Home Sweet Home

Our relationship with our homes is a work in progress, and yes, they can be a bit high maintenance from time to time. When the give-and-take is working, all seems right with the world and everyone smiles at the result. When we're out of sorts with our homes, well, believe me, even the neighbors can tell.

Okay, I admit, home can be a bit needy. It's always demanding that we stroke it and love it and open our wallets to it. However, give it some attention - a little spit and polish - and it shines to beat the band. (Well, you may want to strike the spit and just use water.)

Sure, I admit sometimes my own relationship with home is a love/hate thing. After all, no relationship is without trials, and they all require sacrifice. But when all is well, we can pull up in the driveway, and with a smile on our face and a skip in our step, head in, kick back and enjoy the place we love more than any other.

As we enter the front door, we may also be smiling at those flowers hanging there to greet us.

After all, flowers are always a good idea and displaying them in creative planters is just plain fun and gives the neighbors something to smile about too. If you don't have any hanging planters, why not? I've gathered a slew of ideas for you from Hometalk.

You may also want to stop over and visit Carlene at Organized Clutter and check out her amazing framed pots. That's a hanging planter project that will definitely put a smile on your face!

I hope you'll stop too and visit at these link parties:

Walls of Gray and Blooming Color

There wasn't much desire to get dressed and moving yesterday. The rain unleashed itself upon us like tidal wave from above. The rain was so encompassing that there was a wall of gray between me and the world beyond the front porch step. Looking across the street at my neighbor's house was like trying to see through parchment paper. It was gloomy, dreary, murky and a pall of gray made prospects for the day hard to imagine.
I peeked through the front door window to see how my flag was holding up as a lull came. I should have taken the flag down as it was getting harassed by the wind and water, but by the time I was aware enough to think of it, it was too late. My petunias created a sweet frame looking toward the flag.

Putting the Past in its Place

There I sat in a stranger's driveway around the corner from the home my father built and where I grew up, sifting through handwritten recipes along with clippings from newspaper food sections and product booklets of culinary past. It was a bit like digging through a history book. It wasn't my story or that of anyone in my family, but it might as well have been. Hand written recipes dotted with the sweet memories of the culinary moments of a woman's life in the kitchen where she carefully crafted tasty treats for her family stirred something in me.

Seaside Hues - This Way

Worn wood and watery hues.

It all started with a fence section that I scooped up out of someone's trash one morning on the way to work. Yes, I find some good stuff just taking an extra street or two on the way in to work on Mondays.

The Story of a Nightstand Nuisance And More

The Junk Stalker and I have hit the streets with an eye for freebies. Not all that's free is free in every sense of the word though. There are the freebies that are time intensive to fix up and those that will put their hands in your wallet to get them in shape. Then there are those that are not free of pests.

Now, I completely freak out when it comes to roaches, real roaches known as Palmetto Bugs - they are the big suckers that could wrestle you to the ground and win. They are truly the stuff nightmares are made of.

This is a pretty picture of my Frangi Pani in bloom, because who wants to open a post and see a roach staring them in the face?

The Pick - Part 3 - Beware of Quacks!

BEFORE

This rattan console table's surroundings weren't doing it justice where we found it while picking the business that had gone out. You can see Part One HERE and Part Two HERE.

The Pick Goes On - Part Two With a Before & After

If you missed part one of the story of The Pick at a defunct business my friend Lynette and I went to, you can read that tale and see the images HERE.

Today, the story continues. Since I've shown you the trash we dug through, let me show something cute that I dug out of the mess.

I know, they're just little bottles and scissors, but I like 'em!

The Story of a Pick - Part One

My friend, Lynette, and I recently had the opportunity to go picking through a business that was no more.
Good thing it says "No Soliciting" and not "No Picking".

Thursday's Junk Has Far to Go

Like a race horse out of the gate, I took off at a gallop down the street. The blinders were off though. Mine was a race to win the prize of the day... some good old fashioned free junk from the curb.
